Max Kerner is by profession a dealer of antique books who lives an apparently normal life with his wife Andrea and his son Lukas. Under this mild-mannered persona, however, lurks that notorious crook known as “The Fox”...展开. A polite and gentlemanly sort of thief, the Fox, Robin Hood style, makes it his business to “redistribute” wealth from those rather top heavy with cash to others in dire need.
His wife Andrea, a clever journalist, eventually discovers what Max is really up to, prompting him to swear off his life of thoughtful thieving. She, however, has a better idea: she wants to join his team. Max tries every argument to dissuade her – a successful crook needs talent, courage, cleverness and years of training to hone his craft.
Andrea though, stubbornly refuses to drop the idea, and even succeeds in winning over his accomplices to include her in their next caper. Their next “project”, which Andrea discovers through her journalistic work, is for the benefit of the former World Chess Champion Petrovski.
He had been utterly ruined by his last opponent Kirilov, who himself has gone on to make a fortune. The Fox and his wily team decide to re-balance the wealth of the two chess masters, devising a clever plan to checkmate the greedy Kirilov…
