Following the Unreturned Soldier: Thailand is basically a long conversation. Imamura selects a few themes, mostly on the opposition between the three people he interviews (differences of class, background) and otherwis...展开e lets them reminisce about the horrors of war. Two out of three of the interviewees do most of the talking while the third one seems to have forgotten his native tongue (yet still seems loyal to the emperor). It's not as messy as it sounds but there are fleeting moments of anger that seep through (especially when the emperor is mentioned, the status of this figure being divisive among the interviewee). It should be seen if only as a preamble to Muhomatsu Returns Home.
